VOIVOD, GHOULUNATICS, UNEXPECT, ANONYMUS Up For QUEBEC INDEPENDENT MUSIC Award

VOIVOD ("Katorz"),GHOULUNATICS ("Cryogénie"),UNEXPECT ("In A Flesh Aquarium"),ANONYMUS ("Chapter Chaos Begins"),and LES ÉKORCHÉS ("Les Ékorchés") have been nominated in the "Best Metal/Hardcore Album" category at the second annual Quebec Independent Music Awards (GAMIQ),to be held on September 16 at Montreal's Metropolis.

The public can vote for 16 categories on the GAMIQ web site until Aug. 31. Their input will count for 50 percent of the final decision. The other half will come from a panel of curmudgeonly journalists and music industry representatives.

DESPISED ICON is among the scheduled performers at the awards show, which will be hosted by Kim Bingham and Quebec television personality Remi-Pierre Paquin.

The show will be broadcast live on the GAMIQ website, Montreal's CISM 89.3 FM and Quebec City's CHYZ 94.3 FM. Tickets are $10 to attend in person.
